Ghaith Tibi
Ghaith Tibi is an urban planner and sustainable development advisor with extensive experience in city planning and sustainability advisory projects in the Middle East. As an Associate in Arup’s Planning team, he works closely with clients and stakeholders in the public and private sector advising on achieving ambitious sustainable planning and design outcomes appropriate for the region.
Being a multidisciplinary professional with strong analytical and integration skills, Tibi brings a strategic perspective to complex urban challenges setting out holistic frameworks founded on robust evidence-base and clear systems thinking. He has successfully led stakeholder engagement processes on several strategic projects, collaboratively working with senior government and business leaders to facilitate a shared vision and secure buy-in on key decisions.
Tibi is active in promoting sustainable planning and design principles. He has been a speaker at a number of high-profile international and regional events, including the recent MENA Climate Week organised by the UNFCCC where he spoke about the opportunity to build quality, decarbonised and resilient cities. Tibi also contributes to professional publications that support the transition to a net positive future, such as the State of Play Report for Circular Built Environment in Gulf Cooperation Council, which was prepared for the One Planet Network’s Sustainable Buildings and Construction Programme.
In addition to a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree, Tibi has a Master of Engineering degree in Applied Energy from the American University of Beirut and a Master of Urban Planning from the American University of Sharjah. He is a Member of the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP), the US Green Building Council and the Association of Energy Engineers.
