Alan Dowdall
Associate, Ramboll

Alan leads the field in timber engineering for Ramboll, provides advice on timber design across Europe and chairs Ramboll’s international timber excellence network. He has led or advised on over 100 timber buildings ranging from small scale visitors’ centres to complex large scale residential/commercial buildings and airports.

Alan has written papers, contributed to book publications and presented internationally on the subject. His in-depth knowledge of timber construction has led to Ramboll achieving the status as one of the world’s top timber designers.

Alan has over 14 years’ experience as a structural engineer. He approaches design from a holistic viewpoint and proposes the appropriate strategy for his clients, simplifying complicated issues through analytical thinking and clear communication with design teams.
